Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ is a fun filled story where only entertainment and fun prevails. Dialogues are funny and spontaneous and the beautiful jodi of Ranbir and Katrina keeps the story going with every dose of humor. Rajkumar Santoshi has showed his prowess in handling a comedy. Ranbir’s ulta-palta activities make his love story ghazab. Santhosi’s comic riot ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is best remembered even today. The uniqueness in his plot is that he adds little tarka of seriousness in the story which at the end ended in humor.

Ranbir is the other name of problem. Wherever he goes, problem follows. Ranbir’s funda of life is ‘Be happy and make others happy’. In the process of making others happy, he invites trouble. He is a problem for his father Darshan Jariwala. Ranbir plays the character of Prem and Katrina plays the role of Jenny.

Both Prem and Jenny are two opposite characters. If Prem wraps his studies at ninth class then Jenny is a bookworm. Prem remains involved in unnecessary affairs. He runs a “Happy Club’ which aims in joining the heart of lovers. Due to some misunderstanding, Prem falls in love with Jenny. After making an investigation about Jenny, he finds that she is an orphan who lives with ruthless family.

Prem decided to change himself and make eligible for Jenny. He takes up job at a halwai shop and becomes a good son for his parents. Prem loves Jenny from the core of his heart but fails to express his feelings. After a month long when he accumulated courage to speak his heart to Jenny, he found Jenny’s house locked. The family went to Goa to get her married forcibly to a rich idiot. He too left for Goa but when he reached there he got to know that Jenny loves a boy named Rahul (Upen Patel) and wants to elope and get married to him.

Prem was heartbroken but he did not lose hope. He decided to combine the two hearts but the task was not easy, many complications arise. How Prem has been able to win over Jenny’s love and what chaos has been created when Jenny set to marry Rahul forms the rest of the story.

Music by Pritan keeps the feel and the thrill of the film going. It’s very youthful. S. Thiru's cinematography is top-rate. The work of the director was again top-notch, emotions and feelings are well-executed.

Speaking about the performances, Ranbir has again proved himself. He was awesome and ruled throughout. Katrina Kaif is gradually improving; time is not far when people will speak about her performances instead of beauty. She has been able to deliver a good expression. Darshan Jariwala and Smita Jaykar as Ranbir’s parents are first-rate. Zakir Hussain and Govind Namdeo are up to the mark.

In the nutshell, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ will score well at the box-office. It will basically appeal to the youth and mainly it is a multiplex product. The box office collection will be promising and we can say Ranbir-Katrina jodi rocks.
